Powerful tools such as Facebook, Myspace and Twitter are tools that are adding more value to the formal and non formal educational process. Many of these non formal educational opportunities are providing solutions to challenges, delivering valuable information and adding diversity to our lives. My recent stay in Winnipeg was a great learning experience. During this extended visit I was homeschooling my son over the internet. What an experience!

I am currently working on my MA in Education. The focus of this degree is on adult training. Globalization has set the stage for an emerging new economy. I refer to this new economy as a knowledge economy. The jobs currently in demand are different from the demand that existed 10 years ago. Individuals are finding it necessary to continue educating themselves in order to keep up with the changes in technology and communications. The baby boomer generation is retiring, so adult trainers will have to meet an increase demand for continual education. Non formal education has powerful tools such as Facebook, Myspace and Twitter. My recent stay in Winnipeg, MB was a great learning experience. I captured interesting video footage and tried to experience everything this Canadian city had to offer for 7 months. During this extended stay, I was also privileged to assist my son with his virtual homeschooling. The homeschooling experience sparked my imagination. The platform I used allowed me to interact with him as if I were sitting right next to him for 4 hours a day. This spark led to the creation of the 3 part Virtual Tutoring 2.0 instructional. Virtual Tutoring 2.0 covers the installation and basic configuration of digital communication applications. Digital communication tools will change our narrow definition of the term education in the 21 century.
